Vijay Anand

Vijay's Photo  Vijay Anand has more than 13 years of hands-on experience as a global entrepreneur. In addition to building new ventures, his professional career is marked by building and enabling ecosystems and supporting policy-related initiatives with the Government. Known as “The Startup Guy,” Vijay recently founded The Startup Centre, a Hub and an Accelerator with an aim to foster and enable the birth of bold new ideas, and to nurture teams with exceptional potential, helping them move to the next level.

Vijay is passionate and driven by technologies related to the Mobile, VoIP, and Emerging Internet space. He is the Curator of Proto.in, India's first and largest start-up event platform, and has been a driving force in community events such as Barcamp Chennai, Blogcamp, Wikicamp, Podworks, and the Open Coffee Club in Chennai and seeding such similar initiatives across the country.

Badri Seshadri

Badri's Photo  Badri Seshadri obtained his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras and a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. In 1994, he co-founded Cricinfo.com, the comprehensive cricket platform that enables users to follow matches, view commentaries online, and review a web statistics repository. Badri assumed many roles over the years at Cricinfo, including Chief Operations Officer in UK, Director Commercial in India, Managing Director of the India Operations and Chief Technology Officer. During 2004-05 he managed the mobile strategy for Cricinfo.

In 2004, Badri co-founded New Horizon Media, a regional language publishing company that publishes books in Tamil, English and Malayalam. NHM has succeeded in becoming the number 1 publisher in Tamil.

Badri regularly contributes articles to Tamil magazines and online publications on IT.

 

Umesh Sachdev

Umesh's Photo  Umesh Sachdev is the co-founder and CEO of Uniphore Software Systems. With an extensive professional history in business relations, Umesh’s expertise lies in his ability to identify and develop appropriate technological solutions in support of business objectives. As a liaison between a variety of global companies and tech businesses, he has led the design and implementation of various mobile technologies, including a theft security product, an application for the visually impaired, and a voice-based platform.

In 2009, Umesh was identified as an innovative entrepreneur by the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP). He has co-authored various papers and developed several patent applications involving Speech Recognition and Speech Biometrics. He was also part of the organizing team at Proto.in, India’s first and largest showcase event that strengthens the startup ecosystem. Umesh is known for his contagious passion for excellence, his talent for resourceful business solutions, and his motivational leadership.

Ravi Saraogi

Ravi's Photo  Ravi Saraogi is the co-founder and COO of Uniphore Software Systems. He has a broad professional career in evaluating, recommending, testing and installing new technologies. Ravi has directed several technology teams in initiatives spanning mobile theft security, wireless network development, and mobile learning applications. In addition to managing daily operations, he has vast experience in material and human resources planning, as well as team management. Working with small businesses, large corporations, and governments, Ravi’s expertise lies in delivering quality customer service through creative problem resolution, system improvements, and smooth change implementation.

Ravi is currently an active member of the Mobile Payment Forum of India (MPFI), where he identifies and develops business opportunities in the field of mobile payments. He is renowned for his excellent analytical skills, his dexterity in problem resolution, and his proclivity for driving operational excellence.

Advisory Board

Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala

Ashok's Photo  Ashok Jhunjhunwala is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai. Here, he leads the Telecommunications and Computer Networks group, which works with industry in the development of a number of Telecommunications and Computer Network Systems. He also chairs the Rural Technology and Business Incubator(RTBI) at IIT Madras and the Mobile Payment Forum of India(MPFI). Furthermore, Dr. Jhunjhunwala is a Director on the Board of the State Bank of India, as well as a Board member of several companies in India, including TTML, BEL, Polaris, 3i Infotech, Sasken, Tejas, NRDC, and IDRBT. Notably, he is also a member of Prime Minister’s Setup Scientific Advisory Committee.

Dr. Jhunjhunwala won the Padma Shri Award in 2002, the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1998, the Dr.Vikram Sarabhai Research Award in 1997, the Millennium Medal at Indian Science Congress in 2000, the H. K. Firodia Award for "Excellence in Science & Technology" for 2002, the Shri Om Prakash Bhasin Foundation Award for Science & Technology in 2004, the Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Lecture Award in 2006, and the IBM Innovation and Leadership Forum Award by in 2006. He is a Fellow of INAE, IAS, INSA and NAS.

PR Ganapathy

Ganapathy's Photo  PR Ganapathy is an experienced global business executive and entrepreneur who has held leadership positions in corporations in the United States and India. He was most recently MD and CEO of DSNL, one of India's leading teleconferencing service providers. Before DSNL, Ganapathy was Co-Founder and CEO of Gridstone Research, a venture-funded Financial Information company with operations in the US and India. Prior to co-founding Gridstone, Ganapathy spent seven years with Infosys Technologies in the US in Business Development, Finance and Investor Relations roles. He started his career with the Tata Administrative Service, a cadre of management executives for the Tata Group.

Ganapathy has a B. Sc. in Mathematics from Hindu College and an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad.
