Building a Best Place to Work Around the World by Putting People First

When I started working for Uniphore exactly one year ago, I knew there would be significant challenges in building a global startup.  Even in prosperous times, it is not easy to grow and scale a company, working across time zones, in a high growth market that is going through rapid transformation.  Still, I believed in the vision of Uniphore and saw in the leadership of Umesh Sachdev and Ravi Saraogi, a similar focus on hiring not just smart people, but people who are dedicated, focused, energetic, fun and importantly, people who care about each other as much as they care about the business.

We’ve been working hard over the last year to attract and retain talent and establish a strong, motivating, and caring (‘do the right thing’) culture across the company. Given our global nature, we needed to ensure that we honor the diversity of each location while coming together as a global company around our three cultural values:

  1. People First (customers + employees)
  2. Innovation
  3. Collaboration

Uniphore – Best Places to Work

Best Places to Work 2020Today, I am writing this blog with tremendous gratitude for our people who took the time to share their thoughts and insights on what it’s like to work at Uniphore.  And because of that, we have been named as one of the top places to work in the Bay Area.  Given the Bay Area is one of the toughest job markets to compete in for talent, due to the huge number of high-tech companies, it is even more special.

The San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journals commissioned a research firm to evaluate and rank participating companies across 5 categories according to the number of Bay Area employees.  The research focused on employee care-abouts such as fun, collaborative culture, compensation, management practices, and benefits offerings.  Each company was assigned an average score out of 100.

When putting all 5 company categories together, there were 125 companies that made it onto a list.  Uniphore was ranked number 12 out of 125 companies and in the smallest company category, we ranked 7 out of 25.  I am so energized and thrilled by this acknowledgment of our company culture!

Having worked at some of the largest and fastest-growing companies in the valley in the past, it’s great to see the range of scores and an acknowledgment that working for smaller companies can have a positive impact on people’s career.

Even with this wonderful recognition, we will continue to focus on employee engagement and culture and press forward and keep our employees and customers front and center in everything we do.
