IITM Incubation Cell incubated startups totaled 350 in 2023 and have a combined valuation of ₹45,000 crores. In the financial years 2022-23, they have a combined revenue of ₹3,000 crores. 🌟 Industry-Startup Collaboration alert from IITMIC! 🌟 It was a pleasure to host the leadership team from JK Fenner (India) Ltd and its Foundation on 23 April at IITM Incubation Cell. The team had the opportunity to engage with our dynamic startup ecosystem to explore potential collaborations. During their time at IITM Research Park, the team toured few #IITMadras Centres of Excellence including Center for Excellence in Energy & Telecommunications and Centre of Battery Engineering and Electric Vehicles (C-BEEV) and were introduced to various initiatives undertaken by the centers by Dr Kaushal and Mr Kannan. IITM Incubation Cell launched “Build To Innovate” Challenge in early March, tailored exclusively for students across our Partner Institutes. In its first edition, the focus was on challenges within the #Rural - #Agriculture space. This initiative aims to provide a platform for budding innovators to unleash their creativity and build technology solutions that address real-world issues: indigenous solutions for local problems! We are grateful to our partners, Samunnati and Maxelerator Foundation, for their support in designing the Challenge, and evaluation of project submissions. Challenges given to the students: * Agri-Machinery: (a) Tabletop Banana Peeler, (b) Peanut Sorter & Grader * #IoT in Rural Areas: (a) Smart Water Meter (b) Mitigating Bird and Animal Damage to Crops   Students (from across partner colleges) by forming an inter-disciplinary teams and applying their learnings from our flagship program #BuildClub were invited to register for the challenge. We received 300 registrations from 14 partnering institutes across South India, by early April. To answer queries from students, IITMIC organised multiple ‘Ask Me Anything’ virtual sessions with the experts from Rural-Agri, mechanical, product design domain: 100+ students participated and clarified their doubts. After a month given for prototype development, teams submitted their solutions for further evaluation. Up to 15 teams from three clusters (Madurai, Coimbatore and Chennai) were shortlisted to present at the Semi-Final for jury evaluation. Two semi-finals concluded recently, and one more planned next week.
